What this site is
Frost & Fender covers winter protection for cars and garages at the budget end: windshield covers, snow brushes, all-weather floor mats, garage door seals, battery maintainers, tire chains, containment mats. Things that cost between six dollars and a couple of hundred.
Every page answers a version of the same question: is this cheap thing worth buying, and what does it actually save me? And unlike most of this category, that question gets a number rather than an adjective. A $12 windshield cover against four minutes of scraping on every frosted morning. A $25 battery maintainer against a $220 battery. A $30 door seal against a heater that cannot heat past the gap it leaves open.

Who it is for
Someone who is price-sensitive on purpose. Not someone looking for the best possible product regardless of cost — someone deciding whether the cheap version is good enough, and who wants the actual reasoning rather than a ranked list of six things that all somehow turned out to be excellent.
That shapes the rankings. The cheapest thing that genuinely solves the problem wins here, not the most expensive thing that solves it best, which is why our top pick is frequently not the priciest option on the page.
What this site is not
It is not a testing operation. We have not tested this gear. We do not own it. There is no lab and no test garage, and nothing here will ever claim otherwise. Instead we compile the published specifications, read the manuals, and do the arithmetic — and we link to where every number came from so you can check it. It is not a review site with customer testimonials. We have no customers. There are no testimonials anywhere on this site, because a fabricated one is worse than an empty section.
It is not neutral about money. The site is funded by affiliate commission, which means we have a commercial interest in you buying something. Who writes it
Scooter M. — an enthusiast who is genuinely into this stuff. He reads the manuals, compiles the published specs, and does the math. No lab coat, no test garage, no drawer of free samples.
We are deliberate about that framing. The ranking field in this category leads with credentialed bylines and real test labs, and we cannot match that honestly, so we do not pretend to. What we compete on instead is a published, reproducible method that anyone can check — which, based on our own research into this search results page, nobody else here is doing.

Frost & Fender is published by Slate Mill Group. It is an independently operated publication with no relationship to any manufacturer whose products appear on it.
It is a national publication, not a local business. There is no storefront, no service area and no phone number, and you will not find any of those claimed anywhere on this site.
