The bio, and what is deliberately not in it

Scooter M. writes Frost & Fender. I'm an enthusiast who's genuinely into this - I read the manuals, compile the published specifications, and do the math on what things cost to run and what they save you. No lab coat, no test garage, no free samples. If a $20 thing does the job, that's what you'll find recommended here.

You will notice there is no tenure claim in there, no credential and no job title. That is on purpose. I am not a certified anything, I am not a licensed electrician, and I do not have years behind a service counter. Claiming any of those would be the easiest thing in the world to write and the easiest thing in the world to disprove.

What I actually have is an interest in this stuff and a willingness to read the specification sheet nobody else reads, find that the manufacturer does not publish the one figure that matters, and say so on the page.

What I will never write

“In our testing”, or any variation of it, about a product I have not handled. I have not tested this gear.
A credential I do not hold. No certifications, no “reviewed by a mechanic”, no expert panel.
A specification I could not find. If a manufacturer does not publish a figure, the table says so rather than filling the gap with something plausible.
A price from memory. Prices come from a live feed, or they do not appear at all.

What I can honestly claim

Experience with the arithmetic, not with the products. I did the sums on this site and they are all shown, with their inputs, so you can redo them with your own numbers.

And experience of the buying decision, which is a real thing: the confusion between a maintainer and a trickle charger, the fact that garage door seals are not universal and that the profile chart nobody explains is the whole purchase, the sidewall code you need before ordering chains. Those are where most of the bad purchases in this category come from, and they are knowable without owning anything.

Corrections

If I have got something wrong, I want to know. The contact form reaches me, corrections get made in place with a dated note, and the page will say what changed.
